TRAFFIC CALMING MEANS SAFETY FIRST!

Finally, an easy to operate driver feedback sign for neighborhoods, school zones, parks, daycare areas, churches, or any place where traffic tends to zoom beyond a safe rate of speed. The Radarsign™ driver feedback system is designed to alert individual speeders. Tests show over and over that many speeders WILL respond and slow down. SPEED DISPLAYS SOFTWARE DOCUMENTS LOWER SPEEDS

Deaths and injuries on America's roadways are not only costly, they are also a national tragedy. Presented with the basic facts, public officials, motorists and pedestrians across the country may be able to take the necessary steps to enable future generations to travel on the safest roadway network in the world. This site presents those basic facts to enable anyone to view, download and share.

With advances in engineering, highway design, and traffic control technologies, America's roadways are now being built with more roadside safety features than ever. Yet, much of the nation's four million miles of streets and highways can be even further retrofitted for safety. Appropriate safety upgrades on the most dangerous roadways could also be implemented quickly, and at a low-cost, which would substantially reduce both the number and the severity of crashes.

The Roadway Safety Outreach Program was developed by members of ATSSA's Safety and Public Awareness (SPA) Committee.  The site helps promote roadway safety methods and data to a wide variety of audiences. Select these audiences by choosing one of the black tabs above, or choose from one of the many resources to the left. * There are nearly 100 forklift fatalities in the U.S. each year.

* Forklifts are involved in over 34,000 serious injuries and 61,000 non-serious injuries annually.

* Forklift-related fatalities occur most likely in manufacturing facilities (42 percent), construction (23.8 percent) wholesale trades (12.5 percent).* An average forklift carrying a moderate load and moving at 10 mph takes approximately 40 feet to stop.

* A 5,000-pound forklift moving through a warehouse at 10mph with a 4,000-pound load has a potential destructive force of a Cadillac Eldorado driving 20mph.

NEIGHBORHOOD PROPERTY VALUES AFFECTED BY SPEEDERS!*
A study determined that for existing neighborhoods, when typical speeds were lowered 5-10 MPH, noise levels for the neighborhood went down. Correspondingly, home buyers perceived the neighborhood as quieter and safer. Home values increases by 2% based on this added value to the overall worth of the neighborhood.

It's hard to imagine how many feet you travel in a vehicle at different speeds. To give you an idea of how quickly you move down a neighborhood street at even slow speeds, here is a conversion chart. Consider that in many subdivisions, a lot size is generally around 100 feet long on the street.
